| HISTORY
OF MONDRAY |
In 1942 the Raymond
family registered a Guernsey cattle stud named, Mondray (reversed syllables
of the surname).
The dairy farm was located in Rowville, Victoria, and became a respected
stud with John's brother Ron as stud master.
Shows were attended throughout Victoria for many years, including the Royal
Melbourne Show where "Winston"
their stud bull was awarded Grand Champion.
In 1993 Mondray Texel Stud was founded at Moulamein in the Southern Riverina
district of New South Wales with the introduction of Texels to Australia
by embryo transfer from New Zealand. Mondray Texels have also now developed
a respect in the show ring winning numerous prizes throughout Australia.
Our 1998 ram "Winston"
has carried the Mondray name forward with pride by achieving Supreme Champion
Stud Exhibit amongst other numerous winnings.
In August 2004 Mondray Belted Galloway Stud was formed with the purchase of four quality stud cows in calf plus two heifers. Our aim is to develop a solid breeding foundation for quality and soundness. In 2005 with the use of an outstanding UK bull called "Kingfisher" this sire will go a long way to achieving this aim.
